Keenan and the Regional Liability Excess Fund | Keenan

TORRANCE, Calif., May 26, 2023 – Keenan, an industry-leading California insurance brokerage and consulting firm for health care organizations and public agencies, is proud to share its strong support for Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month as well as its efforts to keep children safe year-round.

Child Abuse Prevention Month, observed annually in April, serves as a critical reminder of the need to protect and support vulnerable children in our communities. Keenan recognizes the importance of fostering a safe environment for children to thrive and believes in proactive efforts to prevent child abuse.

Keenan, administrator and consultant for the Regional Liability Excess Fund (ReLiEF), facilitated a contest for CAP Month, providing an opportunity for three school districts to win a $2,000 educational grant. This year's educational grant recipients are:

• Cajon Valley Union School District
• Hemet Unified School District
• Menifee Union School District

Christi Barrett, Superintendent for Hemet Unified School District said, "In celebration of our Director of Safety and Risk Management, Lucy Dressel, and Hemet Unified's unwavering commitment to safeguarding children, we gratefully accept this $2,000 educational grant from ReLiEF. This grant not only showcases our commitment to child abuse prevention but also highlights our collective efforts in creating a safe and nurturing environment for our students.” Barrett continued, “We extend our gratitude to ReLiEF for providing this opportunity, and we look forward to utilizing the funds to further enhance the educational experience of our students. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of our students and ensure their safety and well-being."

In partnership with ReLiEF, Keenan also launched a child abuse prevention resource website, which serves as a platform to educate and empower individuals and organizations to prevent child abuse. The site offers a CAP promotional kit with tools to help spread the word in communities and schools. In addition to social media promotional tools on the resource page, the website includes a link to a micro-learning series of videos and abuse prevention resources that can be shared throughout communities, offices, and schools. Additionally, Keenan hosts a Child Abuse Prevention Center on their website that offers more free tools and resources.
