TORRANCE, Calif. – Jan. 7, 2020 – Keenan, an industry-leading California insurance brokerage and consulting firm for health care organizations and public agencies, has announced that the California Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) Audit Unit has ranked the firm’s third-party claims administration team in its Redwood City / Eureka office sixth among 53 third-party administrators, insurers and self-insurers for performance in 2018. In addition, the team was ranked fourth among third-party administrators as a group.
Moreover, out of the 53 insurers and administrators that were audited, Keenan was the only one that did not have unpaid compensation due to injured workers on its audited files. The company also was not subject to any levied penalties or assessments. Since 2003, Keenan offices have successfully passed each Profile Audit Review (PAR) conducted by the DWC.
Conducted every five years, the focus of the DWC audits is to protect the general public and ensure that such insurers and administrators comply with the framework of the California Labor Code. Audit criteria include:
- Adequate indemnification owed to the injured worker
- Timely initial and subsequent indemnity payments made to the injured worker or vendors
- Notice provisions made in compliance with any milestone requirements
- Prompt and accurate provision of information
