Some quick and easy ways to MAKE AN IMPACT
We all have a favorite non-profit organization that we support. It might be a homeless shelter, an animal shelter, an after-school program, a place of worship, or an environmental program. No matter what the cause, it is most likely something that is near and dear to our heart.
Did you know that you can help financially support your favorite charity while doing the things you do every day at no extra cost to you? It’s called “passive giving”. These programs do not require a cash contribution and each seemingly small contribution adds up in a big way!
Companies such as Amazon, American Express and DollarDays are making it even easier for customers to support their favorite charities while making everyday purchases or doing daily activities. See below for additional information.
If you order through Amazon often (and most of us do), you can simply visit Amazon Smile, www.smile.amazon.com, an automatic way to donate to your favorite charitable organizations while shopping. From there you can choose your favorite charity and 0.5% of your eligible Amazon purchases will be donated to them. It may seem like a little, but a little bit every time you – and many others – shop on Amazon can add up!
Members Give is an American Express program that allows its members to use their credit card for charitable giving. AMEX customers can do things like donate dollars or redeem membership reward points for a donation. You can even set up recurring donations or spread a donation out over time.
Marriott allows you to “trade in” your points to make monetary donations from a list of 1.5 million charities dedicated to causes from health to the environment and education to disaster relief. You simply select an organization of your choice and the amount you’d like to donate, and your points are used to make that donation.
DollarDays is one of the main vendors we use for purchasing our materials for Keenan’s IMPACT DAY projects. Each month, DollarDays holds a contest to give away $500 – $2,500 worth of merchandise credit to a worthy non-profit, school, community organization or volunteer. You can use the link below to nominate an organization you would like to help. It only takes about 2-3 minutes to complete. And don’t forget to bookmark the page so you can check back and enter your nominations each month. https://www.dollardays.com/promo/sweepstakes
Box Tops For Education
In 1996, General Mills (headquartered in California) created a program to help support education and benefit America’s schools and named it Box Tops for Education. Today, you can find Box Tops on hundreds of products throughout the grocery store and each one is worth $.10 for the participating school. What a simple way to help your local school!
Taking part in passive giving programs like these really helps to leverage the IMPACT in your communities each and every day! If you know of similar passive giving programs like this, please share them with us in the comments section below.
