Los Angeles Business Journal Recognizes Keenan’s Corporate Citizenship
Our recent post highlighted the achievements of two graduating seniors from Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles. They were among the many students who have participated at Keenan over the years in our internship opportunities as part of work-study programs at their schools.
The Verbum Dei partnership was also cited by the Los Angeles Business Journal in recognizing Keenan as a finalist in the publication’s annual Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards. We were proud to be part of an incredible group of organizations, companies and individuals committed to enhancing our communities.
Matthew Toledo, Publisher and CEO of the Journal, noted, “Tapping the resources of the corporate world to strategically match social, community, and public needs creates immense benefits for all parties.”
Keenan founder John Keenan set a tone of community service very early on. And that dedication continues to grow today. Our associates also have many other opportunities to help other people and improve lives through activities like:
- Impact Days when all associates join together to accomplish community service projects
- School Supplies Drive to assemble backpacks for disadvantaged students
- California YMCA Youth & Government Program for middle and high school students
- Holiday Drive food and toy collection for under-served families and children
- Volunteer Time Off for associates to work with a non-profit organization
And these experiences have led many to continue their volunteering on a personal basis.
If you’re not already enjoying the personal satisfaction of community volunteering, we hope you and the organization you’re a part of consider becoming actively involved in outreach projects of this kind. As Mr. Toledo said, it’s truly a win-win proposition.
