With eight years of experience in public sector retirement planning, Melissa King is Sales Executive for Municipal Employee Benefits Practice, lending her prior industry experience from U.S. BENCOR/MidAmerica and PwC to provide clients a holistic review and customized consultations of employee benefit and retirement planning strategies while focusing on turnkey cost-saving solutions.

Joining Keenan in 2022, Melissa plays a pivotal role in educating employers, union leaders, and employees on tax-advantaged health saving plans including: Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Section 115 OPEB Trusts, and Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association Plans (VEBA).

Melissa’s extensive knowledge assists employers with reducing OPEB liabilities through defined contribution plans and strategic funding options for retiree health benefits. Melissa understands the trends on how to maximize retirement savings for public sector employees through 401(a), 403(b), and 457(b) for both full-time and part-time employees, as well as Section 115 Pension Stabilization Trusts for employers. Her skills include JPA management and self-funding.

Melissa specializes in both small and large group benefit consulting, working with groups ranging from 25 to 25,000 full-time employees.
