Reflecting on a Powerful Child Abuse Prevention Month
Although April’s Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month has come to a close, our commitment to protecting children is a year-round effort. At Keenan, we are proud to stand alongside school communities in their efforts to recognize, prevent, and respond to child abuse—not just during CAP Month, but every day of the year.
Each year, Keenan, in partnership with the ReLiEF Joint Powers Authority, takes the lead in promoting and providing resources to prevent child abuse—a cause we are deeply passionate about and consistently advocate for.
This year’s campaign was among our most impactful yet. Our Child Abuse Prevention Resource Page featured vital tools to support educators, including our Microlearning Series—a set of short, scenario-based videos designed to help staff recognize concerning behaviors and reinforce professional boundaries. We also provided complimentary promotional kits to help districts raise awareness both on campus and online.
To inspire engagement, we launched a statewide challenge, offering participants the chance to win a $2,000 Educational Grant for their District. Participants entered by watching our featured video on grooming behaviors, which offered crucial guidance on identifying early warning signs and fostering safer adult-student interactions. For additional entries, participants were encouraged to submit photos showing how they were recognizing CAP Month—and the response was incredible. We received an outpouring of photos, and the grooming behaviors video was viewed over 1,300 times. This high level of engagement speaks volumes about the dedication of educators and administrators to keeping students safe and prioritizing prevention efforts.
We’re thrilled to highlight the three recipients of this year’s educational grants. Each of these districts have been awarded a $2,000 grant in recognition of their participation in our campaign:
- Menifee Union School District
- Palm Springs Unified School District
- Perris Union High School District
Congratulations to these districts for their leadership and continued commitment to student well-being.
As we look ahead, we encourage all school communities to keep the momentum going. Our Child Abuse Prevention Resource Page remains available year-round to support your ongoing prevention efforts.
To everyone who participated in this year’s campaign—thank you. Your involvement makes a real difference. Together, we are creating safer, more supportive learning environments where every child can feel protected, empowered, and heard.
