TORRANCE, Calif. – March 8, 2018 – Keenan, an industry-leading California insurance brokerage and consulting firm for health care organizations and public agencies, again this year participated in the Anaheim Union High School District’s fourth annual MLK Servathon. The event is designed to promote students’ sense of connection and civic responsibility as an experience in generosity, giving and serving others.
Keenan volunteers joined parents, siblings and staff to work with students from Ball Junior High School on a variety of community service projects. This year’s event brought together nearly 150 students at the school, the largest group to date, with 50 adult volunteers. Keenan employees used their VTO (volunteer time off) hours to participate in the event.
“We are on our third year of working with Keenan in conjunction with our Servathon,” said Art Valeriano, Vice Principal at Ball Junior High School. “The employees come ready to serve and ready to work and interact with Ball students. We feel connected to Keenan as they are invested in our school.”

Together, they made 162 stuffed animals and 101 get-well cards for Children’s Hospital Orange County, 520 Valentine grams for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, 400 cat toys and 579 dog toys for OC Animal Care, 138 paracords for troops overseas and 32 kindness posters. The school’s jazz band performed at the senior living center across the street, and the teens played bingo with the seniors.
“We’ve really enjoyed working with Ball Junior High at the Servathon,” said Dan Keenan, Senior Vice President at Keenan. “It’s so inspiring to see the kids and school staff show up on their day off to make a difference in the community. I really look forward to this event every year.”
