New Year 2017 – Happier, Healthier, and Safer, Too!
With the first working days of 2017 now upon us, we invite you to make this New Year one where we can smile more, feel better and do some good for others. We are highlighting a few of the suggestions from several of our most popular posts over the past year. Pulling these ideas together is a reminder that each of us has the ability to change things – one person at a time making a difference.
Starting with Ourselves…
We all have the opportunity to improve our health, whether it is adjusting the way we eat, getting more active, or avoiding the things that get in the way of our vitality and well being. If we don’t take good care of ourselves, it’s very hard to take care of the people and things we care about. Our New Year Blog from last year gives us seven goals for staying well.
Take Charge of Your Workplace Well Being
Many laws, regulations and employer measures are in place to help prevent people from getting hurt at work. But there is no substitute for being personally responsible for your own safety. Take full advantage of prevention training, know about and use personal protective equipment. Pay attention to your body mechanics and how you can make your hours at work more comfortable.
Kindness is Contagious!
While we want to be careful during this cold and flu season, kindness is something we shouldn’t worry about spreading around. Smiles can be transmitted from person-to-person in an instant. Let us know if you’d like to find out how to catch an outbreak of kindness in your school or community.
Help Kids Grow and Thrive
Children are the future and it’s up to us to provide a safe, nurturing environment at home, at school and in the community. Preventing abuse and protecting kids on campus are of course priorities we must take seriously. Engaging young people and encouraging them to aspire to greater achievement isn’t just rewarding to those children. Don’t be surprised when helping kids has an amazing impact on you!
Don’t Let Your Personal Information Go Viral
Many of us enjoy the connection with our mobile devices and computers. Remember they also connect us to the world. Be aware of the unscrupulous ways others may try to get the information you maintain in cyberspace. Update your security and antivirus software. And use extreme caution with the networks you connect to when traveling or hanging out with your favorite local barista.
All of us at Keenan look forward to working together with you to make 2017 a time to change the world, one person at a time.
