November 29 is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many of us focus on our holiday and end-of-year giving.

Last year, more than 700,000 people donated over $116,000,000 to support their communities. It’s easy and it will make you feel fantastic! On Tuesday, November 29, just go to the website of the organization you want to donate to and make your contribution. Then be sure to share the warmth of #GivingTuesday with your friends and family through social media or email.

Looking for a cause to get involved with? Here are a few suggestions from among the organizations Keenan and our associates have supported all over California that are participating in #GivingTuesday:

California YMCA Youth & Government delegates are middle and high school youth throughout the state. Youth gain the skills and knowledge to shape not only their lives, but our society’s future. Your donation will help to fund program scholarships, and a future delegate to find their voice.

Los Angeles Team Mentoring serves middle school students and encourages them to dream big. A positive adult role model in their lives can be life changing. One way to help LATM on #GivingTuesday is to buy them some needed supplies from their Amazon Wish List.

Spark inspires 7th, 8th and 9th grade students in underserved communities to succeed by connecting them with mentors supporting their academic journey. You can assist Spark empower the next generation to perform better in school, graduate on time and lead fulfilling careers and lives.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Empire has quality mentoring models that are changing lives of children in the region. Think how amazing it would be for every child that asked for a mentor to receive a mentor.

Family Giving Tree has served more than 1,200,000 children and individuals throughout the greater Bay Area over the last 25 years, as they actively endeavor to inspire the values of kindness, philanthropy and volunteerism in the community.

Capes 4 Heroes makes and personalizes superhero capes for kids with disabilities, kids with life threatening illnesses and kids who just need to feel empowered.  The goal is to give these deserving kids an extra boost of strength and courage and make them feel like the superheroes they truly are!

blog_for_the_childFor the Child helps create a Circle of Safety for children who have been abused, neglected or exposed to violence. Your gifts give hope, health and healing to the children who walk through their doors each week to receive professional counseling and support.

Fred Finch Youth Center is celebrating 125 years of offering hope and healing. Donations provide innovative, effective services supporting children, youth, young adults, and families to heal from trauma and lead healthier, productive lives.
