ReLiEF and SWACC: Celebrating 30 Years Serving California Public Education
Thirty years ago, public school districts and community colleges began facing severe problems accessing insurance markets to meet their liability insurance needs. The costs for the coverage that was available skyrocketed, and in most cases left significant gaps in the protection schools really needed. The Regional Liability Excess Fund (ReLiEF) and Statewide Association of Community Colleges (SWACC) Joint Powers Authorities (JPAs) were created in 1986 to provide their members with real-time risk management solutions that offer broad coverage at stable and cost-effective rates, ensuring that resources are kept in the classroom.
Keenan is proud to have been a part of the formation of these outstanding organizations. We congratulate the member districts and the many individuals who have served on the Boards of these member-owned and governed JPAs over the years for their outstanding achievements.
Over the past 30 years, ReLiEF and SWACC have grown to serve over 500 public education entities, representing over 2.6 million students and protecting more than $64 billion in total insured value. They have maintained the highest level of performance, member satisfaction and fiscal stewardship, and continue to be leaders in their field.
So, we wish ReLiEF and SWACC a very Happy 30th Anniversary and we at Keenan look forward to many more productive years serving California’s educational institutions together!
