Keenan Creates Latino Outreach Initiative to Further Strengthen Service to Public Agencies, Health Care Providers, Small Businesses, Families and Individuals in California’s Latino Communities

TORRANCE, Calif. – April 6, 2015 – Keenan, the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California, has announced an initiative designed to enhance outreach into the Latino community. The initiative will comprehensively address all aspects of Keenan’s activities including its insurance programs and consulting services, strategic relationships, community service activities, internal infrastructure and employee training.

The overall goal of the initiative is to deepen corporate-wide outreach, brand awareness, customer service and community involvement in ways that address specific needs in the Latino community and create tangible benefits over the long term.

“Keenan’s fundamental commitment has always been to improve the lives of people working in and served by organizations who place their trust in us as valued clients,” said Keenan Chief Strategy Officer Henry Loubet. “As a natural part of our efforts, we have been involved in various ways within the Latino community, and we now intend to take that involvement to the next level.”

Laura Barrera has recently joined Keenan as a consultant to assist in implementing the Latino outreach initiative. She brings more than 20 years of significant experience and expertise in public and government relations, community development and media to her role in helping to guide this program. Highlights include roles as Statewide Outreach Special Assistant to State Controller John Chiang, Deputy Director of Civic Engagement for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, and Community Affairs and Consumer Marketing Manager for the La Opinion newspaper. She has also served with and spoken to numerous boards and organizations focused on Latino issues and services.

To ensure the success of this initiative, Keenan will engage with top leaders in the Latino community including association leaders, school administrators, county and city executives, hospital CEOs, labor leaders and elected officials. A Latino Advisory Committee will be formed similar to other advisory groups Keenan has created to stay closely aligned with the communities it serves.

The initiative will also include identification of causes important to Keenan employees that touch on the Latino community. This input will help guide Keenan activities such as its Impact Days benefiting social service agencies, participation in the YMCA Youth & Government program, student internships and scholarships, and Abuse Prevention Center resources for California schools.
