Keenan “Impact Day” Program Expands Significantly in Second Year To Reach Additional Communities in Both Southern and Northern California

TORRANCE, Calif. – September 17, 2014 – Keenan, the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California, is significantly expanding its Impact Day community involvement program in its second year. A key aspect of that expansion is the extension of the program to Northern California, where the firm operates six branch offices. The effort, designed to assist local non-profit organizations and social service agencies, brings together Keenan associates to assemble a wide range of donated goods in conjunction with the company’s annual meeting.

In Northern California, the Impact Day event will take place at the South San Francisco Conference Center on Wed., Oct. 8. It is expected that nearly 200 Keenan associates will participate. Keenan has a total of 675 employees in nine offices in California, including branches in Oakland, Redwood City, San Jose, Pleasanton, Rancho Cordova and Eureka.

“Our inaugural Impact Day in Long Beach last year was a great success. To see a ballroom full of people having so much fun and gaining so much satisfaction from making a difference in people’s lives was truly a memorable experience,” said Keenan President and CEO Sean Smith. “We determined that it was simply an enterprise that needed to be expanded to offer the same opportunity for our associates in Northern California to help benefit organizations in a part of the state that is very important to us.”

Organizations set to benefit from Impact Day in Northern California are:

  • Bay Area Crisis Nursery (Concord)
  • Bay Area Rescue Mission (Richmond)
  • Fred Finch Youth Center (Oakland)

In addition to the extension to Northern California, this year’s Impact Day was also expanded to two days of activities in Southern California with inclusion of organizations outside the greater Long Beach area.

The goal of the event is to assemble items including 500 boxed lunches, 1,000 toiletry kits, 450 backpacks with assorted school items, 150 classroom kits for teachers, 300 “good night kits” for children, and books and clothing.

The Conference Center’s catering company, California Catering, will be providing the boxed lunches at cost and donating 500 cookies. Keenan has also reached out to many of its vendors for their support of this initiative, and the response has been very positive. Many have offered products and services, as well as personal time, to help with the projects during Impact Day.
