Covered California May Still be an Option

Peter V. Lee, the Executive Director of Covered California has written a piece aimed at reminding us that Covered California is still open for business. While open enrollment for 2014 is over, there are special situations that might allow someone to obtain coverage. If any of your employees is in a special situation or thinks they might be in one, they can contact us for help at, 24 hours a day/seven days a week; or by telephone (855)-653-3626, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Some examples of Special Situations are:

  • COBRA participants (this special situation is only applicable until July 15, 2014)
  • Loss of coverage due to divorce
  • Marriage
  • Loss of coverage due to a dependent turning age 26
  • The employee just moved to California from another state
  • Entering into a domestic partnership
  • A change in immigration status
