We were very proud to help sponsor the recent 4th Annual Safe Schools Conference hosted by the California School Resource Officers’ Association in Anaheim, California. The purpose of the conference was to help schools address a range of critical issues like bullying, cyberbullying, gang prevention and intervention, truancy, dropout prevention, crisis response, alcohol and other drugs, mental health, legal issues, liability, and building a positive school climate.

Safe SchoolsA resounding success, the conference drew 540 attendees from law enforcement (sheriffs, police and resource officers) and education (superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, assistant principals, directors and teachers). Keynote speakers were Special Agent Jeff Cugno from the FBI and Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The Safe Schools conference also offered 54 workshops, one of which Keenan provided on “Utilizing Online Training and Resources to Improve School & Student Safety and Streamline Regulatory Compliance.”

At the conference, Keenan held a drawing for a Kindle Fire. Our winner was Dr. Constance Polhemus, Director of Student, Community and Personnel Support at San Jacinto Unified School District.

Keenan clients can access resources for many of these important topics on the Keenan P&C Bridge under the School Safety Center. This online portal offers principals assistance with issues including bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, gangs, suicide prevention, emergency preparedness, and Parent Night resources.
