Important Webinar on Life-Saving Techniques for Schools
We are unfortunately living in a time of unpredictability and sometimes even violence in our schools. To help schools prepare for and handle potential threats, this important session will provide easy-to-apply, life-saving concepts that can be used in any type of school crisis event. These techniques are based on extensive research and our featured presenter’s experience working with schools that have experienced a variety of such events.
You’ll learn from potent and unforgettable crisis scenarios based on real incidents that occur every day in schools across the country and reveal potentially deadly gaps in the way schools respond to dangerous situations. Concepts like controlled breathing, pattern matching and recognition, mental simulation, and prioritization can be incorporated into the school culture to help staff make more effective decisions in the crucial first 30 seconds of a life or death incident.
Our featured presenter will be Chris Dorn, co-author of five books on school safety, who has captivated audiences across the globe. One of his books, Innocent Targets – When Terrorism Comes to School, is used by emergency management, police and homeland security agencies in all 50 states and several other countries. Chris has been featured on numerous news programs including Good Morning America, Larry King Live, Law Enforcement Television Network and ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings.
Also presenting will be Christine Gerbasi, who is in charge of the Keenan Property & Casualty Integrated Service Team. She is a member of Keenan’s legislative committee working closely with various industry groups as a speaker on legislation, regulations and other issues impacting school districts and health facilities.
We are very pleased to be partnering with the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) and the Schools Association for Excess Risk (SAFER) to offer this very timely webinar.
