Improving our Communities
At Keenan our motto is “What you do makes a difference.” This ideal drives the work we do for clients and for those in our communities. At Keenan, our clients are schools, hospitals and municipalities. We serve those who support our communities and it is important for us to give back.
We are proud of our history of community involvement. We have been recognized as a leader in Corporate Social Responsibility and we take that role very seriously. Our culture encourages all employees to become involved and create better futures for our kids and our communities.
Each year we have an annual day of service where all our employees come together to work on projects for local nonprofits. The projects vary from year to year and have included things like backpacks for youth, good night kits for homeless children, care packages for the troops, and dog and cat toys for animal shelters.
Volunteer Time Off (VTO)
Every employee is given 2 days of paid time off each year to volunteer at the nonprofit of their choice. Last year Keenan employees donated over 1,800 hours. People are encouraged to find projects they are passionate about, and groups of employees have organized group VTO days at local food banks, crisis shelters, and hospitals.
Right Start Mentoring Program
This initiative is our commitment to provide support to kids who have more determination than resources to get on the right path in life. We have established mentoring programs in our Torrance, San Jose and Riverside offices where employees can volunteer 2 hours per week to mentor local middle and high school students through Los Angeles Team Mentoring, Spark, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Keenan teamed up with ACSA to create “Everyday Kindness”, a turnkey system for schools and municipalities to promote kindness in the classroom and our communities. With Everyday Kindness, you have an online tracking tool to count acts of kindness that produces dashboards that can help you celebrate reaching milestones of kindness. Visit www.everyday-kindness.org to learn more or record your kind act today.
