California Legislative Summary: Employee Benefits 2018 – 2019 End of Session

The 2019 California legislative session is over. In all, Governor Gavin Newsom signed 870 bills into law, ranging from allowing college athletes to sign endorsement deals to banning the sale of fur.

This Briefing summarizes the bills that were signed into law that will have an impact on employee benefit plans, and also notes the bills that were vetoed. All signed bills are effective January 1, 2020 unless stated otherwise.
