TORRANCE, Calif. – May 1, 2019 – Keenan, an industry-leading California insurance brokerage and consulting firm for health care organizations and public agencies, recently announced hitting five million total course completions in its Keenan SafeSchools online training program since its inception in 2008.
Receiving special recognition and $1,000 in unrestricted funds for exemplary participation in the Keenan SafeSchools program were Manteca USD Director of Risk Management Kimberly Wright (l.) and School Board President Stephen J. Schluer (r.) with Keenan Senior Account Manager Steve Bour (c.).
Keenan has recognized five school districts in California as leading participants in this highly successful program for school employees. Each district was presented with a plaque “In recognition of your commitment to student and school safety” along with $1,000 in unrestricted funds. The districts are free to utilize these funds to meet their particular needs, including emergency contingency funds for unexpected expenses.
Districts achieving this year’s recognition were:
- Coast Community College
- Hemet United
- Manteca United
- Saugus Union
- West Contra Costa United
These school districts are members of the ReLIEF joint powers authority, a property and liability claims administration pool managed by Keenan.

Keenan SafeSchools, a comprehensive online safety training and tracking system, was introduced in 2008 with 80 online courses. Today, the program offers more than 200 courses and provides schools with important resources for training employees in areas of safety and regulatory compliance that can be deployed efficiently and cost-effectively as a turnkey solution. All courses are written by expert authors and are set in a school environment. A Compliance Management System automatically tracks and reports on each employee as they complete their training assignments.
