TORRANCE, Calif. – September 14, 2016 – Keenan, the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California, has been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a finalist in the publication’s Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards and as one of its Best Places to Work in Los Angeles.
The Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards, presented on June 22, 2016, are designed to honor professionals and organizations in the nonprofit world that make a positive impact on the community under difficult financial constraints as well as corporations supporting these nonprofits.
Keenan was honored for the continued enhancement of its corporate social responsibility initiatives that started in 2015 as a volunteer-time-off (VTO) program providing employees with two paid days each year to volunteer for the nonprofit they are passionate about. Keenan also organizes service projects that employees can participate in. This past year, the company held VTO days at the L.A. Food Bank, Los Angeles Team Mentoring Leadership Camp, Children’s Institute and the Saban Community Clinic, among others. Keenan also coordinated a special project in conjunction with Ball Junior High School in Anaheim for their Servathon on Martin Luther King Day. And the company recently launched a mentoring program, Right Start, where employees can take two hours per week to mentor middle school youth.
The journal’s 10th annual Best Places to Work in Los Angeles Awards were presented on Aug. 17, 2016, to honor top local employers that participated in a detailed survey on subjects such as leadership, corporate culture and communications. This is the fourth year that Keenan has made this prestigious list.
The “Best Places to Work in Los Angeles” assessment is a two-part process designed to gather detailed data about each participating company. In part one, the employer completes a questionnaire where information is captured about company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. The second part is an employee survey covering leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall engagement.
Accepting the “Best Places to Work in Los Angeles” recognition for Keenan were (l. to r.) Susie Krstevski, Dan Keenan, Molly Sanchez, Irene Bursiaga, Beth Cross and Tom Keenan.
“We are very proud of our incredible group of associates at Keenan. They not only bring their energy and creativity to work every day, but they also bring their dedication to improving our communities through their volunteer activities,” said Dan Keenan, Senior Vice President. “And we’re extremely gratified to know that they see Keenan as a positive, motivating and supportive place to work as professionals.”
